Career honors Summer 2007: Lyndsey swam at four events over the summer, concentrating mainly on her three main events: the 100 and 200 breaststrokes and the 200 IM. At the Eric Namesnik Memorial Grand Prix, she finished eighth in the 100 breast. At the Grand Prix series Charlotte Ultraswim, she placed third in the 100 breast, 16th in the 200 breast and was on the third place 400 medley relay team. She finished eighth in the finals of the 200 breast and 12th in the 200 IM at the Mid-Atlantic Senior Championships. At U.S. Nationals, she swam in both breaststroke events but did not qualify for the finals. 2006-07: Lyndsey capped her freshman season with a Big Ten Individual Championship in the 100 breaststroke and an appearance at NCAA Championships. She rallyed from behind to capture the lead just before hitting the finish wall at Big Ten's to win the 100 breast and she also scored in the 200 breast with a 12th place finish. She also swam in the 200 IM at Big Ten's. At NCAA's she swam in the 100 breast, finishing 38th, and on the 400 medley relay team that finished 22nd. Lyndsey just missed an NCAA `A' time in the 100 breast during the season by just .17 of a second. She swam the fastest time of the year on the team in the 100 breast and the fifth fastest in the 200 breast. On the year, she had three first place finishes, two in individual events and one in a realy, five second place finishes and six third places. High School: Lyndsey was a Scholastic All-American and a member of the National Art Honor Society at Westminster High School. Personal: Lyndsey was born on April 9, 1988 in Ravenna, Ohio. She is the daughter of Mark and Margaret Smith. Her father is an athletic trainer. She has a younger brother, Mark. Majoring in graphic design, she has aspirations of a career as a graphic designer. She lists painting, writing, drawing, reading, and fishing as hobbies. Why I Chose Penn State: "Because of the enthusiasm of Mr. Tom Tulley, a gentleman that I go to church with who is a Penn State alum. Between his enthusiasm for the school and the Penn State team and coaches, how couldn't I? The academics are great, too."
