Summer 2007: Caitlin had a successful summer as she swam in three events and put up some impressive numbers at all three meets. At the Grand Prix series Charlotte Ultraswim, she placed ninth in the 100 breaststroke and 19th in the 200 breaststroke. At the Mid-Atlantic Senior Championships, she finished second in the 200 breast, 17th in the 200 IM and was a part of the first place 400 medley relay team along with Michelle Myers, Kelly Nelson and Molly Crispell that also set a meet record time of 4:18.84. She capped off the summer with a 21st place finish at U.S. Nationals in the 200 breast. 2006-07: Caitlin had a breakout meet at the Big Ten Championships, knocking several seconds off her career best times in all three of her main events, the 100 and 200 breaststrokes and 200 IM and just narrowly missing out on qualifying for NCAA Championships. She swam NCAA `B' qualifying times in both breaststoke events and had the fastest time of the year on the team in the 200 breast heading into NCAA's, only to finish the year with the second fastest by only .05 of a second to Kaitlin O'Brien. Caitlin also had the second fastest time of the year on the team in the 100 breast. At Big Ten's, she scored points for Penn State in both breaststroke events, swimming to a third place finish in the 100 breast and a fifth place finish in the 200 breast in a time that was over three seconds better than her previous best time. Her third place finish in the 100 breast at Big Ten's was her best individual finish of the year. She also had three fourth place finishes and a second place in a relay. 2005-06: Caitlin did not swim in every meet of the year as she dealt with an injury for the majority of the year, but her hard work and improvement during the season allowed her to finish the year on a high note with her best performances of the year, ones that hopefully will carry over to her sophomore year. She placed seventh in the 100 breaststroke at the Big Ten Championships, one of two Penn State swimmers to place in the top eight in that event. She swam her best time of the year in the preliminaries of the 100 breaststroke and then topped it once again in the finals. She also swam her best time of the year in the 200 breaststroke at the Big Ten Championships. In the early part of the year, she swam on some medley relay teams and was a part of one first place medley relay squad. High School: Caitlin came to Penn State after an outstanding high school career at West Chester East High School. She was the 2005 Pennsylvania State Champion in the 100 breaststroke. Also faring well at the 2005 Junior Nationals in Orlando, Meehan finished fourth in the 100 breaststroke and fifth in the 200 breaststroke. She also was a member of the National Honor Society Personal: Caitlin lists cheering for the Philadelphia sports teams and spending time with friends as pastimes. She is the daughter of Helen and Michael Meehan and has a twin sister, Erin, and a brother, Michael. She is majoring in education at Penn State. Why I Chose Penn State: "I chose Penn State because I really like the coaching staff, the closeness of the team and the pride that goes along with being a member of the Nittany Lions."
