Summer 2007: Erin swam in both the 100 and 400 freestyles at Mid-Atlantic Senior Championships, placing 36th in the 100 and 39th in the 400. 2006-07: Erin improved greatly throughout the season as she swam in the middle and distance freestyle events, contributing some points for Penn State in dual meets and then swimming her fastest times of the year in her three main events - the 200, 500 and 1650 freestyles - at Big Ten Championships. She improved her best time in the 1650 free by nearly 30 seconds at Big Ten's and finished 33rd. Her best finish of the year was a third place finish in the 1000 free in the dual meet vs. West Chester. High School: Erin was a four-year letterwinner at Mechanicsburg High School and a two-year team captain and also lettered in cross country and track for three years each. She qualified for districts all four years and was a state qualifier her junior and senior seasons. As a senior, she finished third in the 500 free and sixth in the 200 free at the state meet. In 2003, her team was the Commonwealth Division champions. In the classroom, Erin was a high honor student, was awarded four academic letters, and was a member of the National Honor Society and Latin National Honor Society. She also swam for the West Shore YMCA for 12 years. Personal: Erin was born on January 29, 1989 in Mechanicsburg, Pa. The daughter of Rich and Nancy Luley, she has an older brother Ben, who attended Penn State, and two older sisters, Kate, who also attended Penn State, and Anne. Both parents also attended Penn State. Her mother is a swim coach. She is majoring in animal bioscience at Penn State and hopes to become a veterinarian.
