Record 14 Nittany Lions Named to NFHCA National Academic Squad
After a season that saw one of the finest performances ever in the postseason for a Penn State field hockey squad, the Nittany Lion field hockey team had perhaps one of its finest ever seasons in the classroom as well as a school record 14 members of the field hockey team were named to the ZAG/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) National Academic Squad. Penn State head field hockey coach Charlene Morett today announced the signings of seven student-athletes to national letters of intent to attend Penn State and play on the field hockey team. Hannah Allison of Mifflinburg, Pa., Ayla Halus of Hershey, Pa., Jessica Longstreth of Richboro, Pa., Casey McCartin of Horsham, Pa.,, Kristen Schaefer of Millersville, Pa.,, Alex Schlener of Bethlehem, Pa., and Arielle Spadea of Canton, Mass. will all join the defending national runner-up Nittany Lion fi... Two members of the Penn State field hockey team who are also veterans of the U.S. National team programs will continue their international experience in the near future. Senior-to-be Jen Long, who has been a member of the U.S. Under-21 National Team for the last two years, has been invited to train with the U.S. National team this month while Allison Scola, who has also been on the U.S. U-21 National Team for the past two years, has been named to the squad that will travel to Argentina in Mar...
