UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - With October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, it is only fitting that the Lady Lions start their fundraising efforts for the second annual THINK PINK Day with the Think Pink Kickoff event at Penn State's football game against Iowa on Saturday, October 6. The event will begin at noon (12 p.m.) outside of Gate A of the Bryce Jordan Center.

The Lady Lions are co-hosting Saturday's event with the ZTA sorority and Making Strides for Breast Cancer. All funds raised Saturday will be donated to Making Strides for Breast Cancer. The Lady Lions will be passing out pink ribbons for breast cancer awareness from 12-1:15 p.m. For $1, fans will have an opportunity to make "Shots Against Breast Cancer" and can register to win one of two pink iPod Shuffles with a made free throw.

Additionally, there will be an interactive presentation of Football 101: How to be a Game-Day Goddess, hosted by Suzy Beamer Bohnert at center court of the Bryce Jordan Center at 12:30 p.m. Admission is free. Beamer Bohnert, author of Game-Day Goddess, will be breaking down the language of football for female fans. Prizes will be available to those that participate in the session, while supplies last. Beamer Bohnert will have her book Game-Day Goddess for sale on the concourse of the Jordan Center and will make a donation to the THINK PINK Day fund based on book sales from Saturday. She will also be available to autograph her book following the presentation.

Other women's sports teams at Penn State will also be supporting THINK PINK Day and the fight against breast cancer. The field hockey team will host Pink Day on Sunday, October 14 versus Michigan State at noon, while the volleyball team will have Pink Day on Friday, November 16 versus Wisconsin at 7 p.m. There will be donation tables available at each event with donations being added to the THINK PINK Day fundraising total.

The second annual THINK PINK Day will take place on Sunday, February 10 at noon versus Iowa. This season, the Lady Lions will donate portions of its fundraising efforts to the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition, Making Strides for Breast Cancer and the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Fans can purchase their ticket to THINK PINK Day and other games beginning Friday, October 5 at 10 a.m. This season, Penn State introduces a new seven-game Lady Lion Flex Plan package where fans will receive a ticket to the Duke (Sun., Dec. 2) and Georgetown (Sun., Dec. 9) games and the second annual THINK PINK Day versus Iowa (Sun., Feb. 10), as well as four flex vouchers to redeem in any ticket combination for Big Ten games.
