True freshmen often find themselves in deep water when they get thrown into the waves of an NCAA season right away. For Jesse `Bubba' Jenkins, his collegiate career began in fine fashion despite the turbulent seas of a rookie season spent in the glare of a starter's spotlight. Jenkins, who bolted out to a 12-2 record in early season tournament's, grabbed the starting mantle at 157 in January and worked his way to the NCAA Championships as a true freshman. With a full year of Big Ten action behind him, Jenkins will now work to become an All-American at one of the conference's deepest weights. A true 149-pounder a year ago who performed exceptionally well up at 157, Jenkins has spent the off-season getting bigger and stronger and now heads into his sophomore year more prepared physically for the rigors of his weight class. Jenkins won the 2007 FILA Junior World Championships in Beijing this past summer. Look for Jenkins to move back down to 149 this season.
