John Nichols comes to Penn State after an outstanding high school career at Middletown High School in Maryland. With a lengthy list of high school accolades, Nichols will look to help bolster Penn State's keeper corps as he learns from two-time league Goalie of the Year Drew Adams.
HIGH SCHOOL/PERSONAL:
Nichols earned all-league laurels for four straight seasons as the starting goalie for Middletown High School. Also earning All-Area and All-Gazette laurels three times, he was named Defensive Player of the Year and earned team MVP honors twice. He led MHS to three league crowns and was team captain as a senior. He also lettered in football and was a High Honors student. Nichols is the son of Scott and Donna Nichols. He has one brother, Chris (who plays football at Army) and two sisters, JoJo and Emma. Nichols is currently in Penn State's DUS.
COACHES VIEW:
"John walked on this fall and has shown very solid technique. He has improved greatly while learning the Division I speed of play. He has good stick skills and shows solid potential in the clearing game." - Coach Thiel
