Matt Loy played in nearly every game for Penn State as a freshman and will look to have an even bigger impact for the Nittany Lions in 2008. A talented offensive threat from New Jersey, Loy will be relied upon to help bolster a Penn State attack that was hit hard by graduation.
Lion Career:
2007: Loy played in 10 games in 2007, scoring one goal and grabbing an assist. His first collegiate goal came against Notre Dame on Feb. 25, while his assist came against ECAC foe Rutgers. Loy had three ground balls as well during his rookie season.
HIGH SCHOOL/PERSONAL:
Loy earned second team All-New Jersey honors as a freshman and sophomore and was a first team All-New Jersey pick as a junior and senior. He earned All-MAPL and All-Bianchi honors four straight years and was team MVP and captain his senior season. He left The Hun School as its all-time leading scorer and left Hun as the fourth all-time leading goal scorer in New Jersey history. He was also tenth on New Jersey's all-time points list. A superb player with nationwide respect, Loy was a USA West selection to represent the United States in Australia in the Summer of 2006. He is the son of Steve and Philomena Loy. Matt has two brothers, Eric and Chris. Loy is an LER major at Penn State.
COACHES VIEW:
"Matt will vie for time on the attack once again this spring. He is comfortable inside on the crease but has worked hard at improving his carrying and passing ability on the perimeter as well. " - Coach Thiel
