Spring practice provides an opportunity for experimentation for the coaching staff, with some players sticking with their new position going into preseason drills, while others do not. Among the successful transitions last spring was Brett Brackett's move from quarterback to wide receiver. The intelligent and talented athlete made good progress during the spring and should have an opportunity to earn time in the wideout rotation. Brackett caught two passes for 23 yards from classmate Pat Devlin, including a 21-yarder, in the Blue-White game. Brackett owned a 3.10 grade-point average through the spring semester and is a potential Academic All-Big Ten candidate. He is one of nine returnees from New Jersey and was one of the squad's primary organizers of the fifth annual Lift For Life in July. 2006 Freshman Season High School Personal Full name is Brett Michael Brackett.
