Rick's sophomore season was his first as a regular and he showed just some of what he can do as he finished fourth on the team in hitting, one of four players to hit .300 or better for the Nittany Lions. He was also second on the team in extra base hits. His two home runs both came in key situations during the year and he also proved to be an outstanding situational hitter, as he got several other timely hits, particularly in Big Ten games. He also showcased his strong throwing arm in right field as he led the team in outfield assists.
