Scott became a dependable outfielder in his first year as a position player and with a year of experience as such under his belt, will likely contribute in an even bigger fashion this year as a junior. After platooning with Brian Ernst and Garrett Field last year, he may do the same this year, only with Grant Youngblood replacing Field. Scott usually played against left-handed pitchers last year and may figure to do the same this year as well. After concentrating solely on his role as a position player last year, Kelley may see some time on the mound again this year as well.

2007 (Sophomore): Made the switch from relief pitcher as a freshman to outfielder and was part of what was mainly a three-man rotation between left and center field with Ernst and Field....Started in left field mainly against left-handed pitchers....Led the team with 31 starts in left field....Had two three-hit games and two three-RBI games in his first year as a hitter....Finished second on the team in outfield assists with three....Threw out three runners at home plate on the year....Hit .286 (8-for-28) with seven RBI over his last nine games of the regular season.
Game-by-Game Highlights: Got his first career hit, a double, and went 2-for-5 with an RBI in Penn State's first win of the year at Centenary (2-18)....Started off the 10th inning with a single, an inning that Penn State would score the go-ahead run in and go on to win the game at No. 1 North Carolina (3-3)....Went 1-for-2 with an RBI at Kansas (3-13)....Recorded two outfield assists in the game as he threw two runners out at home plate and also we nt 3-for-5 with a run at Oral Roberts (3-16)....Scored a run and went 1-for-3 in the first game at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park vs. Central Connecticut (3-23)....Went 2-for-4 in the series finale vs. CCSU (3-25)....Had two RBI and went 2-for-3 vs. Temple (4-11)....Drove in three runs and went 2-for-3 in the series finale at Michigan State (4-16)....Threw out his third baserunners of the year at home with an assist vs. Northwestern (4-21)....Hit his first home run of the year to lead off the sixth inning and break a 4-4 tie to give Penn State the lead in a game it would go on to win and went 2-for-4 and also scored two runs in the series opener at Indiana (4-27). The home run was just his second career extra-base hit....Had his second three-RBI game of the year and went 1-for-3 in the series finale vs. Purdue (5-6)....Went 3-for-5 with a run, one of five Nittany Lions with three hits in the series finale vs. Michigan (5-13)....Went 1-for-3 and drove in a run in the second game of the Ohio State series (5-19)....Also drove in a run and went 1-for-2 in the series finale vs. OSU (5-20).

"Scott filled in and played well in a utility role in the outfield last year. This season he will again help us out at every outfield position. However he will be primarily used in left field. Scott has also worked from the mound this off-season and might get a chance to pitch if we need him. He is very popular and a great guy to have on our team."
