    Mission Statement

Welcome to the Pennsylvania State University athletic training department website for athletic training graduate assistants. This website is dedicated to those interested in receiving a Master's degree from Pennsylvania State University and working with our competitive Division I athletic teams.

The athletic training staff at Pennsylvania State University uses a diverse treatment approach that has its foundations in manual medicine techniques. Integration of traditional athletic training with exercise and use of modalities is coupled with an osteopathic model of treatment. This integration provides a very efficient and effective treatment model for the athletic population we serve. Graduate assistant athletic trainers will be mentored in this approach and be given an opportunity to learn hand skills valuable to clinical practice.

Graduate assistant athletic trainers also experience a flexible academic selection which allows you the ability to select from a variety of courses in the areas of Health Education & Administration along with course work based in the Kinesiology, Biomechanics, and Physiology. Graduate assistant athletic trainers have opportunity to perform a graduate level Capstone Project or Research Paper which can explore any of the medical aspects within the athletic training domain.

Athletic trainers graduating from Pennsylvania State University with their Master's in Education will be well prepared to enter into many different areas of athletic training. From clinical athletic training, to teaching and research, graduate students have gone on to contribute to the field of athletic training in many different ways.
